About The Michigan Daily
The Michigan Daily is the student-run newspaper at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The first edition was printed on September 29, 1890. Throughout the past three centuries, the Daily has covered University of Michigan news and sports, culture and the city of Ann Arbor. The Daily's dedicated staff of writers, photographers and designers works in the Stanford Lipsey Student Publication Building located at 420 Maynard St. to produce a print edition of the paper Monday through Friday during the school year.
“I read The Michigan Daily regularly for 30 years because it was a voice of a critical importance to me and to our players. It is a tradition of great and enduring significance to all who love the University of Michigan."— Lloyd Carr, Michigan football coach 1995-2007
“The University of Michigan prepared me for life, but The Michigan Daily readied me for the real world. A degree in communication is one thing. Learning how to handle myself in the world of journalism is an initial life lesson I owe all to The Michigan Daily. Whether it was covering the great Bo Schembechler in his final coaching season or battling edit staffers over inclusive language (no, the player left of the shortstop on the softball team is NOT called a third baseperson), the Daily conditioned me for everything I've encountered in the profession."— Rich Eisen, NFL Network host
and 1987-1990 Michigan Daily alum
